A BRANCH OF LUMINA FOIL INDEX

LFI Applied

Applying optical documentation to research, development, preservation, prototyping and collaboration with professional organisations.

LFI Applied translates the Lumina Foil Index protocol into selected applications developed around the concrete needs of manufacturers, grading companies, archives, museums, foundations and technology partners.

Each project emerges from the intersection of visual acquisition, material analysis, application goals and final output. Some results may be made public; others are shared exclusively in professional contexts.

THE PRINCIPLE

When the protocol meets a real objective

LFI Applied is not simply an editorial extension: it is the level at which documentation becomes a design tool.

01

Problem

Identification of a concrete need related to materials, optical performance, preservation, display or digital access.

02

Protocol

Selection of LFI acquisitions, variables and conditions needed to build coherent documentation.

03

Application

Transformation of results into a case study, prototype, comparison, archive, experience or decision-support tool.

FIELDS OF APPLICATION

Beyond the world of collectible cards

LFI Applied extends the Lumina Foil Index protocol to the documentation of reflective, metallic and special surfaces belonging to different areas of collectible and cultural heritage.

01

Trading Card Games

Modern and historical cards, foil treatments, patterns, textures, promotional variants and special finishes.

Foil Cold Foil Holographic
02

Numismatics

Proof coins, mirror fields, precious metals, reliefs, patinas, micro-scratches and highly reflective surfaces.

Proof Relief Metal
03

Philately

Stamps featuring foil, metallic inks, special varnishes, holograms and commemorative printing techniques.

04

Reflective and metallic media

Cold foil, hot foil, spot UV, holograms, certificates, premium packaging, art prints and security printing.

Hot Foil Spot UV Security Print
05

Experimental materials

Banknotes, badges, phone cards, tickets, security documents and other media still under study.

RESEARCH PHILOSOPHY

From observation to impact

LFI Applied follows a progressive path: observing surface behaviour, documenting it, understanding it and transforming it into a tool for preservation, research or innovation.

LFI APPLIED WORKFLOW

From brief to final output

Each project is built as a modular process. The method remains consistent, while the output and level of depth depend on the agreed objective.

01

Brief

Definition of the problem, context and expected outcome.

02

Test design

Selection of samples, protections, lighting and observable variables.

03

Acquisition

Production of visual material according to the LFI protocol.

04

Analysis

Comparison of results and interpretation of relevant differences.

05

Output

Dossier, prototype, archive, experience or technical presentation.

CASE STUDIES

Public whenever possible. Confidential whenever necessary.

LFI Applied protects the value of the research and partner confidentiality, distinguishing between public communication and professional documentation.

PUBLIC CASE STUDIES

Shared research

Selected projects may be transformed into content, public entries or accessible demonstrations.

Archive in preparation
PRIVATE CASE STUDIES

Confidential documentation

Tests, prototypes and strategic results may be shared exclusively during meetings, applications or collaborations.

Access upon request

POSSIBLE OUTPUTS

Research becomes an accessible object

01

Technical dossier

A structured document presenting method, observations and results.

02

Visual case study

A readable comparison through images, videos and selected frames.

03

Digital prototype

An interactive demonstration connected to the Digital Twin Engine.

04

Exhibition installation

A physical and digital experience designed for exhibitions and events.

05

Dedicated archive

An organised collection of acquisitions, metadata and related documentation.

06

Partner presentation

Confidential material for assessing developments, investment and collaboration opportunities.

CURRENT PROTOTYPE

The Digital Twin Engine as the first integrated application

The Digital Twin emerges from applying LFI acquisitions to an interactive experience connected to a certificate, unique code and physical object. It is the first example of how LFI Applied can transform documentation into a platform.

Prototype in development · Engine v1.0

COLLABORATION FRAMEWORK

A meeting point between culture, technology and industry

LFI Applied is designed to develop pilot projects, experimentation and documentation with organisations that share an interest in preservation, innovation and collectible culture.

FROM OBSERVATION TO IMPACT

Every reflective surface tells a story.
LFI Applied develops the tools to document it.

Application does not replace the protocol: it extends its potential beyond a single medium, connecting visual documentation, heritage, research and new forms of experience.
